Moorpark Man Dies in Crash; 2nd Driver Hurt
A 27-year-old Moorpark man was killed Wednesday when he lost control of his car and drove over the center divider on Moorpark Road, then was struck by an oncoming vehicle, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
Peter Cline was approaching the intersection of Camino Dos Palos on southbound Moorpark Road at 8:12 a.m. when he attempted to pass two cars, said Sgt. Patti Salas of the Traffic Division in Thousand Oaks.
Cline’s Honda Civic spun out of control and careened over the raised center median into oncoming traffic.
Authorities said he was broadsided by a Nissan Sentra driven by Amanda Welty, 40, of Thousand Oaks.
Cline was pronounced dead at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, Salas said, and Welty was treated for minor injuries.
Salas said investigators were trying to determine if speeding, drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident.
