Wizards and Meola Stop the Crew, 1-0
Igor Simutenkov scored in the 58th minute and Tony Meola made nine saves for the 46th shutout of his career as the Kansas City Wizards beat the Columbus Crew, 1-0, Saturday night in front of 16,472 at Columbus, Ohio.
Columbus (5-6-4), which was tied for the fewest goals allowed in the MLS, had shut out its last two opponents and went 261 minutes without allowing a goal. Kansas City (7-3-6) has scored a league-high 32 goals.
San Jose 2, D.C. United 1 -- Manny Lagos’ tiebreaking goal in the 54th minute ended the Earthquakes’ four-game winless streak before 21,892 fans at Washington.
Lagos received a pass at the top of the penalty area and sent a shot into the open goal. San Jose (7-3-6) won despite missing forward Landon Donovan, who scored four goals against Cuba for the U.S. national team.
D.C. United is 4-6-6.
Chicago 3, New England 1 -- Rookie Damani Ralph scored and set up goals by Kelly Gray and Justin Mapp in front of 12,345 fans at Naperville, Ill.
Chicago is 7-4-4; New England is 5-5-6.
New York/New Jersey 2, Dallas 1 -- John Wolyniec scored in the 96th minute to lead the MetroStars (8-4-4) in front of 8,422 fans at Southlake, Texas.
Dallas (3-9-4) opened the scoring when Brad Davis scored his fifth goal of the season in the 26th minute.

Carolina (6-7-3) outshot San Diego (6-5-6), 14-9, and Kristin Luckenbill earned her third shutout of the season.
Washington 2, New York 0 -- Abby Wambach scored twice in the game played as part of a WUSA-MLS doubleheader at Washington.
The Freedom (7-6-3) moved one point ahead of fifth-place New York (7-8-2).
Atlanta 0, Boston 0 -- Briana Scurry of Atlanta (9-3-5) made two saves and earned her WUSA-leading seventh shutout of the season in front of 7,212 fans at Boston. Boston is 7-4-5.
