Two Aim for First Win

Two professional maidens will run at different venues today, with the prospect that this will be the day they get their first win.

Breakfast At T’s, a 12-time loser, will be one of the favorites in the eighth and final at Santa Anita, a six-furlong contest for 3-year-old maiden fillies.

Earlier, Fab Do, who has lost 19 in a row, will drop to the $8,000 level as he makes his Golden Gate debut for owners Marilyn and Sonja Malmuth and trainer Ian Jory.

A daughter of Out Of Place bred in Florida, Breakfast At T’s has been the beaten favorite in three of her last five starts. She was the 2-1 choice Feb. 23 when making her initial start for trainer Joshua Litt.

However, the result was the same as it had been 11 times previously for trainer Dave La Croix. Breakfast At T’s lost. She finished fifth, beaten seven lengths by longshot winner Suspicious Caper.

Bred in California, Fab Do, a 5-year-old Sharp Victor gelding, crossed the wire first once in a race at Fairplex on Sept. 24 but was disqualified and placed sixth as the 3-5 favorite.

In six subsequent races, he has finished second three times and third once, so he drops to a new low in the first leg of Golden Gate’s pick four.

Race of the day: Just Too Too, who is perfect in two sprint starts, will try to stretch her speed around two turns on the turf in today’s third at Santa Anita. The In Excess filly won her first start for John Sadler, then scored for Jeff Mullins after being claimed for $50,000.

Who’s hot: Steve Specht. The trainer won three consecutive races at Golden Gate Fields on Wednesday. He won the fifth with Dance For Freedom, the sixth with Michael’s Wolf and the seventh with Lucky Mudd.

Who’s not: Monte Gomes. The trainer is zero for 40 at Golden Gate Fields.

Exotically speaking: Single Roll Over Roy in the first, use Ghost Memo and Takeonefortheteam in the second and Just Too Too, Tangle and Katdogawn in the third.
