Two men were struck and killed in separate accidents as they were jaywalking, police said Wednesday.
In each case, police ruled that the pedestrians were at fault because they were crossing mid-block.
“If they were crossing where they were supposed to be crossing, they might have lived,” LAPD Officer Ralph Fournier said.
At 7:55 a.m. Wednesday, Louis Benson, 81, of Tarzana was struck as he crossed Lindley Avenue near Ventura Boulevard.
On Tuesday at 6:55 p.m., a 61-year-old North Hollywood man was hit as he crossed Foothill Boulevard near Maclay Street in Sylmar, Fournier said. The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of family.
