GIRLS’ GOLF

A week after Dos Pueblos fired a Southern Section-record 187, Peninsula nearly matched the feat with a 188 at Victoria Golf Links in Carson. Peninsula’s score may have been better, considering that it was eight-over par on a par 36 course. Dos Pueblos shot its 187 at par-35 Glen Annie Golf Club in Goleta. The teams have been a virtual No. 1 and No. 1A in the rankings all season and the last two weeks did little to disprove that. Angela Park of Torrance has broken par in six of her last seven matches. Huntington Beach Marina defeated Anaheim Esperanza, 217-239, in a victory that dispatched the Vikings’ main competition for the Sunset League title.
