Update -- The Steve Sampson Era begins for the Galaxy, with little or no adjustments expected to the club’s lineup or formation. “The guys that brought the team to first place deserve a chance to [continue],” said Sampson, who was hired as coach on Wednesday, two days after Sigi Schmid was fired. “I don’t want to take an undue risk. They’ve wanted to hit a stride, a rhythm, and to change a system of play at this time would be a mistake.” The Galaxy will again be without suspended defender Chris Albright, though forward Carlos Ruiz, who scored both of Guatemala’s goals in its 2-0 victory over Canada on Wednesday, should be able to play 90 minutes, Sampson said. The Fire, which has won one of its last 11 matches, this week signed Haitian midfielder Alexandre Boucicaut, though he may not be available because of visa issues.
