Sammies White Chick Tries to Shake Funk

Sammies White Chick will try for her second victory of 2004 against four other mares in tonight’s seventh, a $13,250 allowance at 350 yards.

The 6-year-old gray daughter of Chicks Beduino has had trouble in her last two outings since winning an overnight handicap May 21.

Owned by Felix Aguallo Gonzalez and trained by Paul Jones, Sammies White Chick is a winner of seven of 25. She will be ridden by Ramon Sanchez.

The richest member of the small cast is Just Think. A 4-year-old Pritizi Dash mare owned by breeder Ed Allred and trained by Kelly Lewis, Just Think has earned more than $116,000 while winning five times. She comes off a third-place finish on July 18 when she was a head behind Sammies White Chick.

Classic Sassy Chic missed by a head at tonight’s distance in her last race three weeks ago, Fishers Horizon is one for four since arriving in the U.S. from South America and Classic Tol has won four times for trainer Elmer January.
