Christian Flores Montebello Senior * Led Oilers to second consecutive Division III title with an 11-9 victory over Whittier La Serna, earning the division’s player-of-the-year honor. J.W. Krumpholz Foothill Junior * The Division I co-player of the year, Krumpholz, at 6 feet 3, 210 pounds, was physical and skillful in the set position for the division runner-up Knights. Chay Lapin Long Beach Wilson Senior * The Division I co-player of the year amassed close to 200 saves during the season and averaged about three steals per game. Matt Sagehorn Long Beach Wilson Junior * Probably the best two-way field player in the Southland, Sagehorn displayed his ability with five goals and six steals in the Division I final against Foothill. Scott Swanson Long Beach Wilson Senior * The Moore League’s co-player of the year, Swanson was quick to take advantage when defenses paid too much attention to Sagehorn. COACH OF THE YEAR Dave Carlson Los Alamitos * Guided the Griffins to a stunning upset over previously undefeated Villa Park in the Division II championship game.
