GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
* Allison Scurich, Aliso Viejo Aliso Niguel: Hit two free throws with less than one second to play to give the Wolverines a 54-52 Division I-AA first-round playoff victory over Saddleback, after she also played in the Aliso Niguel girls’ soccer team’s 2-1 Division I first-round victory over Huntington Beach earlier in the day.
* Kalia Williams, Santa Monica St. Monica: Finished with 15 points after hitting a game-winning jump shot with 10 seconds left to lift the Mariners to a 44-41 overtime victory over Santa Fe Springs St. Paul in the Division IV-AA playoffs.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
* Kasey Moore, Mission Viejo Capistrano Valley: Had two goals and one assist for the the Cougars (11-5-6), who upset second-seeded Los Alamitos (19-4-2) with a 3-1 victory in the first round of the Southern Section Division I playoffs.
GIRLS’ WATER POLO
* Anne Markel, Santa Margarita: Had two goals and four steals to help the Eagles (19-10) to a 7-4 upset victory over third-seeded Los Alamitos (21-9) in a Division I quarterfinal game at Golden West College.
WRESTLING
* Patrick Aleksanyan, Santa Ana Calvary Chapel: Went 5-0 with four pins and a technical fall and was named MVP of the lower weights for the Eagles, who scored a tournament-best total of 215 points at the Southern Section Division VI individual championships at Chino Hills Ayala.
