P Jason Dominguez, Chatsworth Sr.

Hit close to .500 with 18 doubles and 34 RBIs for the City champions. The Pepperdine-bound center fielder also went 13-0 on the mound, including a five-hitter in section final.

P Phil Hughes, Foothill Sr.

Finished 9-1 with an earned-run average of 0.69 and three walks in 61 innings. The 6-foot-5 right-hander was drafted in the first round by the Yankees, the No. 23 pick overall.

C Bryan Anderson, Simi Valley Jr.

Marmonte League player of the year hit .396 with eight home runs, 36 RBIs and 11 stolen bases in leading Simi Valley to the Southern Section Division II title. Threw out 28 of 32 baserunners and picked off 21 runners.

1B Mike Carp, Lakewood Sr.

Earned Moore League co-MVP honors after hitting .486 with 11 home runs and 60 RBIs. In 13-5 loss to Canyon Springs in playoffs, hit three home runs and drove in all five runs. Drafted in the ninth round by the Mets.

IF Willie Cabrera, Chatsworth Sr.

Set a state record with 72 hits this season but also showed exceptional power for a second baseman, hitting a team-high 11 home runs. Went 10 for 14 during playoff run to City title.

IF Trevor Plouffe, Crespi Sr.

First-round draft pick of Minnesota finished 12-2 with an ERA of 0.86 for the Division III finalists. Also hit .486 with six home runs and 29 RBIs and drew 27 walks for an on-base percentage of .622.

IF Joe Spiers, Canyon Springs Sr.

Hawaii-bound shortstop broke state record with a 46-game hitting streak and hit safely in 60 of 62 games his last two seasons. Hit .500 with eight home runs and 30 stolen bases for Division I semifinalists.

OF Jared Clark, Valencia Sr.

Hit .421 with 10 home runs, 33 RBIs and 40 runs scored. Also went 8-1 with a save and a 1.05 ERA. Signed with Cal State Fullerton and was drafted in the 19th round by the Houston Astros.

OF Jason Corder, Capistrano Vly. Sr.

Hit 14 home runs and had a .902 slugging percentage for the Division I semifinalists. The California-bound right fielder also finished 10-2 on the mound with a 2.45 ERA.

OF Mark Trumbo, Villa Park Sr.

Had best season of anybody at the halfway point, leading the Spartans to the National Classic title. Hit .438 with seven home runs and was 10-2 on the mound. Signed with USC and was drafted in 18th round by the Angels.

UT Lucas Duda, Arlington Sr.

USC-bound first baseman, who drew 40 walks this season, finished with a .351 average, 30 runs and 18 RBIs for the Division I champions. He had seven saves, including five in a row in one-run playoff victories.
