Trained by Chuck Treece for owner Tuan Tran, Redrockn, a son of the thoroughbred sire Red, was fourth in his first start against maidens on Jan. 22 but improved in the first of two trials for the Catalina Derby on Feb. 19.

Ridden by Baltazar Contreras, the California-bred tracked the pace from the outside, then drew away in the stretch and won by 3 1/2 lengths in 46.01 seconds.
