Baseball Title to Simi Valley

Junior catcher Bryan Anderson had two doubles and drove in four runs to lead Simi Valley to a 9-6 victory over Woodland Hills El Camino Real in the San Fernando Valley baseball tournament championship game.

The Pioneers ran their record to 5-0 at the expense of the Conquistadores (3-2), who are ranked No. 12 in the Southland.

In other tournament games:

Jason Machado had two hits and drove in two runs to lead No. 1 Anaheim Canyon (4-1) to a 7-4 victory over No. 6 Santa Margarita (3-2) in the Loara tournament third-place game.

Mark Trumbo (2-1) pitched a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts and A.J. Smith hit a two-run home run in the third inning to lead No. 2 Villa Park (4-1) to a 4-1 victory over Huntington Beach Edison (3-2) in the fifth-place game of the Loara tournament.

No. 4 Chatsworth won the Blue Division title in the Westside tournament with a 13-2 victory over Ventura. The Chancellors scored five unearned runs in the first inning on Jason Dominguez’s run-scoring double and Thomas Cassidy’s two-run homer. Jake Norton (2-0) went six innings to earn the pitching decision.

Moorpark defeated Oxnard Rio Mesa, 9-1, in the Westside Red Division final. John Bostwick (2-0) allowed two hits and struck out four in five innings to earn the decision and Nick Dingman had a bases-loaded triple with two outs in the fifth inning to give the Musketeers a 6-1 lead.

Encino Crespi defeated Mission League rival L.A. Loyola, 5-2, in the El Segundo tournament’s Blue Division final. Adam Ching had a three-run home run and scored three runs and Joe Einfeldt had two doubles and four RBIs to lead Mission Viejo Trabuco Hills (5-0) to an 18-10, eight-inning victory over Whittier (4-1) in the Gold Division final of the El Segundo tournament.

Softball

Amanda Klimczak (4-0) pitched a one-hitter with 18 strikeouts and had a double and triple to lead No. 22 Pomona Diamond Ranch to a 3-1 victory over tournament host Upland in the championship game Saturday.

Myra Duran had a triple and an RBI for the Panthers (4-0). Upland falls to 3-1.

Alyssa Freight pitched a one-hitter with six strikeouts as Placentia El Dorado (5-1) defeated Huntington Beach Edison, 2-0, in the Cypress tournament championship game.
