Long Beach State Ends Losing Streak

Long Beach State ended a 12-game losing streak with an 87-63 victory over Cal State Sacramento on Saturday at the Pyramid.

Anthony Coleman had 26 points and eight rebounds to help the 49ers (1-2) win for the first time since beating Idaho, 64-60, on Jan. 29.

The 49ers shot 57% (28 of 49) from the field and the Hornets (1-2) shot 26% (eight of 30).

Midway through the first half, Long Beach went on a 13-3 run to take a 34-20 lead with 4 minutes 48 seconds left in the half. The 49ers extended their lead to 46-27 on a layup by Travon Free just before the buzzer.

Cal State Northridge 86, Jackson State 63 -- Joseph Frazier had 19 points and six rebounds to help lift the Matadors (1-3) in the seventh-place game of the Las Vegas Holiday Invitational.

Sophomore forward Austin Waggener had his first career double-double, with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The Matadors shot 53.4% (31 of 58) and never trailed the Tigers (0-5).

Cal State Fullerton 107, Hope International 73 -- Bobby Brown had 21 points and a career-high 13 assists, and Hardy Asprilla had 16 points and nine rebounds to lead the host Titans (2-1), who forced 26 turnovers.

Francisco Acevedo scored 17 points for Hope International (1-2), an NAIA school that won one game last season.

UC Riverside 79, Loyola Marymount 72 -- Rickey Porter scored 24 points and Vili Morton had 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Highlanders (2-2), who made seven of nine three-point shots in the second half to pull away at home.

Brandon Worthy of Loyola Marymount (2-1) led all scorers with 26 points and had a game-high eight assists.

San Francisco 72, UC Santa Barbara 56 -- John Cox scored 20 points to help Coach Jesse Evans earn his first college victory.

Tyrone Riley had 18 points and a game-high 15 rebounds for the host Dons (1-1).

Josh Davis scored 20 points for the Gauchos (1-2).
