Record vs. Burn -- 2-1-0.

Update -- Galaxy striker Carlos Ruiz, the team’s leading scorer in each of his three seasons, will undergo fitness tests today to determine his availability for tonight’s match. Ruiz injured his left hamstring during last Saturday’s 1-1 tie with the Kansas City Wizards. An MRI exam Friday confirmed the injury as a strain. If Ruiz can’t play, he might not be allowed to fly to Guatemala late Saturday night, as scheduled, to join his national team for its World Cup qualifying match against Honduras on Wednesday. The Galaxy will definitely be without defenders Ryan Suarez, who is suspended, and Tyrone Marshall, who is with Jamaica’s national team for its World Cup qualifier against Panama. Also missing will be midfielder Cobi Jones, who is with the U.S. team for its qualifier on the road against El Salvador. The Burn will be without defender Cory Gibbs and forward Eddie Johnson, both with the U.S. team. With a victory, the Galaxy can clinch second place in the Western Conference and home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Dallas would be eliminated from playoff contention if it loses and San Jose beats Kansas City.
