From Times Staff Reports

A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit Thursday that sought to preserve a tiny gold cross on Los Angeles County’s official seal, which county supervisors voted in June to remove.

A county employee sued to keep the cross, arguing that its removal signaled hostility toward Christians. But U.S. District Judge S. James Otero disagreed, noting that the plaintiff had also claimed that the cross was merely a historic symbol.
