Beatles tribute will aid relief

Grammy Awards organizers never seem to run short of ways to channel the Beatles on the annual telecast, and this year it will be through an all-star performance of the Fab Four’s “Across the Universe” benefiting tsunami victims and their families.

Bono, Stevie Wonder, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, Velvet Revolver, Tim McGraw, Brian Wilson and others will sing the song during the show. Immediately after the performance, the audio will be available for download for 99 cents on Apple’s iTunes website.

“With a worldwide audience of hundreds of millions of viewers, the upcoming Grammy Awards telecast offers us a unique opportunity to combine the healing power of music with tangible as well as emotional assistance,” Recording Academy President Neil Portnow said in a statement.
