Reserve quarterback Quincy Carter of the New York Jets is back in rehabilitation for an undisclosed problem, a source within the NFL said Monday.

Carter is seeking medical assistance at a treatment center, the source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Associated Press.

Jet General Manager Terry Bradway said through a team spokesman that he had no comment. ESPN.com reported that Carter also was being treated for bipolar disorder.

Carter left the Jets four days before their playoff game against Pittsburgh to be with his ailing mother in Decatur, Ga. The source said Carter had personal issues and was excused from the team.

A little while after his departure, he entered the program. Carter previously went into rehab in 2003 and 2004.

The Jets signed Carter to a one-year deal in August after he was released by the Dallas Cowboys.
