“Defense was the key,” Olson said. “I thought we did a nice job of converting steals into layups. We have been dominating people really well.”

Frye was unstoppable inside.

“I just wanted to be aggressive on the defensive end,” Frye said. “If I don’t establish myself, then they are just going to have a field day.”

Malik Hairston scored a career-high 21 points for the Ducks (12-10, 4-9), losers of seven of eight.

Arizona State 75, Oregon State 73 -- Ike Diogu had 25 points and Bryson Krueger added 21 at Tempe, Ariz., as the Sun Devils held off the Beavers after losing an 18-point lead.

The Beavers (14-10, 6-7) rallied from a 44-26 deficit behind David Lucas, who had 26 points and 13 rebounds. Oregon State tied the score, 67-67, on Nick DeWitz’s basket with 3:28 left. But Serge Angounou scored and Jason Braxton added a free throw as the Sun Devils (17-9, 6-8) regained control.
