BOYS’ BASKETBALL

* Kenny Collins and Bryant Williams, Moreno Valley Rancho Verde: Collins had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Williams made three of four free throws down the stretch to finish with 13 points as the visiting Mustangs, ranked No. 25 in the Southland by The Times, defeated No. 20 Lake Elsinore Temescal Canyon , 63-61, in a Southwestern League game.

* Shane Martin, Santa Margarita: Scored nine of his 16 points in the fourth quarter as the No. 24 Eagles upset No. 4 Santa Ana Mater Dei, 54-46, in a Serra League game at Santa Margarita. Martin made four three-point baskets.

* Chance Morris and Mark Hill, L.A. Fremont: Morris had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Hill had 16 points and 10 assists in a 74-65 victory over visiting L.A. Dorsey in a Coliseum League game.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

* Njeri Garth, Los Angeles Crenshaw: Had 21 points, 12 rebounds and seven steals as the Cougars edged Los Angeles Manual Arts, 48-46, in a Coliseum League game.

* Dominique Carter, Los Angeles Jefferson: Had 31 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds as the Democrats defeated Los Angeles Locke, 61-45, in a Coliseum League game at Jefferson.

BOYS’ SOCCER

* Mike Lemus, Laguna Hills: Scored the decisive goal in the 35th minute and the Hawks edged Aliso Niguel, 2-1, in a Sea View League game. Lemus’ goal was his 19th of the season.

* Gregorio Cibrian and David Bussen, Temecula Valley: Cibrian had two goals and an assist and Bussen made five saves for his seventh shutout in a 4-0 victory over Murrieta Valley in a Southwestern League game.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

* Ashling Taylor, Newport Harbor: Had nine goals, including five in the second half, as the Sailors (16-1), ranked No. 1 in the Southern Section Division I, earned a 12-9 victory over Long Beach Wilson, ranked No. 4 in the division.
