Chelsea Whitaker had 16 points and eight assists, many at key times for Baylor, and the seventh-ranked Bears clinched their first outright Big 12 Conference regular-season title with a 79-69 win over No. 13 Texas Tech on Thursday night at Waco, Texas.
Baylor, which improved to 24-3 overall and 14-2 in the conference, won all 14 of its home games this season, and stretched its homecourt winning streak to 17 since a loss to Texas Tech last season.
Texas Tech (21-6, 12-4), led by LaToya Davis’ 19 points, missed a chance to share its fourth Big 12 title and dropped to the No. 4 seeding in the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City, Mo., next week.
UC Santa Barbara 79, UC Irvine 53 -- Mia Fisher scored 20 points to lead the Gauchos (18-8, 15-2) over the Anteaters (6-20, 5-12) at Santa Barbara to clinch their 10th straight Big West title.
