Man Injured in Alleged Street Race Is Critical
A man remained hospitalized Tuesday after his car struck a power pole during what police said was an illegal street race.
Darrell Arce, 25, of Stanton, is in critical condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange, authorities said.
The accident occurred about 10:10 p.m. Monday at Ball Road and Barcelona Lane. The impact caused the car to burst into flames and resulted in a power outage to about 100 residents.
Witnesses told police that Arce and another driver were racing at speeds up to 90 mph along Ball Road and Knott Avenue.
