Deadly Accident Blamed on ‘Illegal, Unsafe’ Turn

An 8-year-old boy was killed and his mother and two brothers were injured when she made an “illegal and unsafe” turn in front of an oncoming bus, authorities said Sunday.
The bus struck the minivan at Long Beach and Greenleaf boulevards about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, pushing the van about 100 feet and into a light standard, officials said. The 8-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman and her two other sons were injured, one critically, but are expected to survive.
