Hunting (for stars) and gathering (toys)
Stevie Wonder caught lightning in a bottle for his 11th Annual House Full of Toys concert, booking singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae just before the British newcomer made a surprise splash in last week’s Grammy nominations. Rae will be joined by Brian McKnight, rapper Common, Al Jarreau and others, including Wonder himself, at an event that has earned a reputation as one of the season’s most spirited and spiritual song-fests. Patrons are asked to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to the cause of cheering the area’s underprivileged children.
Stevie Wonder’s 11th Annual House Full of Toys Benefit Concert, Gibson Amphitheatre, 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City. 7:30 p.m. Saturday. $35 to $250. (818) 777-3931.
