The family of a Thousand Oaks man, missing for the last week, has joined local law enforcement officials in asking for the public’s help in locating the father of a 9-week-old daughter.

Jeff Scott Howard, 40, was last seen by his wife, Thuc, early Dec. 21 in their condominium in the 1800 block of Avenida de Las Flores. The couple were awakened by their daughter, Jasmine, for a feeding, and Howard complained of a severe headache.

Howard took some medication for his pain and retreated to another room. When his wife checked on him hours later, Howard was missing along with his red 2003 Hyundai Elantra sedan, California license number 5KRP048. He didn’t take his cellphone or checkbook, relatives said.

Parents Stan and Thaya Howard traveled from their Arizona home to the Conejo Valley on Sunday and have worked with family members to locate their missing son.

“We tried everything,” Stan Howard said. “We’ve retraced familiar paths where he would go.”

Stan Howard said the next step is to place fliers at regional airports and to review his son’s personal e-mails in the days before his disappearance.

Authorities describe Jeff Howard as white and about 6 feet, 175 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

He often wore glasses and is believed to be wearing a black jacket, a blue shirt, pants and shoes.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Ventura County sheriff’s detectives at (805) 494-8201 or his parents at (888) 836-8617.
