Dunleavy Wanted More for Kaman

Coach Mike Dunleavy expressed frustration after Chris Kaman attempted only nine shots in Tuesday night’s 93-91 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

The 7-foot center had 15 points and 13 rebounds, and made six of his seven field-goal attempts in the first half, so he should have been a bigger part of the offense after halftime, Dunleavy said.

“He did not get the ball enough that second half,” he said. “I mean, here’s a guy who goes six for seven in the first half, and he gets two shots in the second half?

“That’s just ridiculous. That’s the message I told our team. What were we thinking about?”

Backup center Zeljko Rebraca returned to the lineup and scored two points with two rebounds in 12 minutes.

The 7-foot, 265-pound Rebraca has played in only 14 games because of an irregular heartbeat and breathing problems.

Swingman Quinton Ross, sidelined the last two games because of lower back problems, did not accompany the team on the trip to Dallas and Houston.

The Clippers initially said they hoped Ross, the team’s top perimeter defender, would sit out no more than a few games, but Ross’ back has not cooperated.

Although swingman Corey Maggette, sidelined the last 35 games while recovering from a left foot injury, has been cleared to participate in non-contact drills, he still might be weeks away from begin activated.

“Obviously, he’s been progressing,” Dunleavy said. “He’s now allowed on the court and, at some point, he’ll be allowed contact.”
