Santa Margarita senior midfielder Andrew Sinderhoff got a commemorative patch for his efforts in Santa Margarita’s scoreless tie with La Verne Damien in the Southern Section Division I boys’ soccer final Saturday at Downey Warren. He would rather have had a goal.

Sinderhoff took a corner kick with 20 seconds left that was headed into the net by senior midfielder Casey Isaac, but the goal was disallowed by officials because of a pushing foul committed by the Eagles against Damien goalkeeper Lou Moran.

Damien (21-3-6) finished with a share of its second title in a row and Santa Margarita (26-4-1) a share of its first championship since it won consecutive Division III titles from 1997 to 2000.
