SOUTHEASTERN

at No. 5 Florida 23, Louisiana State 10: Quarterback Tim Tebow threw two touchdown passes in his only two attempts and also ran for a score to give the Gators (6-0, 4-0) a win over the Tigers (4-2, 1-2) at Gainesville. Florida improved to 6-0 for the first time since 1996, when it won the national title, and extended its home winning streak to 13 games. Florida starting quarterback Chris Leak completed 17 of 26 passes for 155 yards.

No. 4 West Virginia 42, at Mississippi State 14: Steve Slaton ran for 185 yards, Pat White rushed for two touchdowns and the defense made two interceptions deep in its territory to give the Mountaineers (5-0) a victory over the Bulldogs (1-5) at Starkville. West Virginia extended its winning streak to 12 games, second-longest in the nation.

No. 13 Tennessee 51, at No. 10 Georgia 33: Erik Ainge threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Volunteers (5-1, 1-1) over the Bulldogs (5-1, 2-1) at Athens. Tennessee became only the second visiting team to score 50 points against Georgia, which entered the game giving up a nation-leading 6.8 points a game and only 34 all season. Arian Foster scored three times for Tennessee, all on one-yard runs. The Volunteers piled up 383 yards and 27 first downs.

South Carolina 24, at Kentucky 17: Quarterback Syvelle Newton ran for one touchdown and caught another to lead the Gamecocks (4-2, 2-2) over the Wildcats (3-3, 1-2) at Lexington, and improve Coach Steve Spurrier’s record against Kentucky to 14-0.

at Mississippi 17, Vanderbilt 10: BenJarvis Green-Ellis ran for 102 yards and two scores, and Charles Clark had a game-saving interception to preserve a victory for the Rebels (2-3, 1-3) over the Commodores (2-4, 0-3) at Oxford.

at Alabama 30, Duke 14: John Parker Wilson threw two touchdown passes, and the Crimson Tide (4-2) pulled away with two late touchdowns at Tuscaloosa to hand the Blue Devils (0-5) their 13th consecutive loss.

BIG 12

No. 22 Nebraska 28, at Iowa State 14: Cody Glenn rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns, Brandon Jackson had 116 yards and a score and the defense did the rest as the Cornhuskers (5-1, 2-0) defeated the Cyclones (3-3, 0-2) at Ames. Nebraska held Iowa State to 53 yards rushing. Iowa State fell to 0-3 against ranked opponents this season.

No. 23 Missouri 38, at Texas Tech 21: Chase Daniel threw for 171 yards and a touchdown, and the Tigers (6-0, 2-0) returned two interceptions for scores in a victory over the Red Raiders (4-2, 1-1) at Lubbock, Texas. It’s Missouri’s first 6-0 start in 33 years.

Baylor 34, at Colorado 31: The Buffaloes (0-6, 0-2) lost their 10th straight game to match their longest losing streak in 117 years of football as the Bears (3-3, 2-0) won at Boulder in triple overtime. Ryan Havens made a 22-yard field goal for the lead and linebacker Joe Pawelek clinched the win with a leaping interception in the end zone. Baylor won consecutive Big 12 games for the first time since joining the conference in 1996.

at Kansas State 31, Oklahoma State 27: Quarterback Josh Freeman ran for a 21-yard touchdown with 1:11 left to help the Wildcats (4-2, 1-1) defeat the Cowboys (3-2, 0-1) at Manhattan.

Texas A&M; 21, at Kansas 18: A two-yard touchdown run by Jorvorskie Lane capped an 80-yard drive with 34 seconds left to lift the Aggies (5-1, 1-1) over the Jayhawks (3-3, 0-2) at Lawrence.

at No. 1 Ohio State 35, Bowling Green 7: Troy Smith completed 17 of 20 passes for 191 yards and three touchdown passes to lead the Buckeyes (6-0) over the Falcons (3-3) at Columbus for their 13th consecutive victory. Ted Ginn Jr. caught a career-high 10 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown reception.

at No. 6 Michigan 31, Michigan State 13: Chad Henne threw three touchdown passes -- two to Mario Manningham -- to lead the Wolverines (6-0, 3-0) over the Spartans (3-3, 0-2) at Ann Arbor for their fifth straight win in the series. The Michigan rush defense, which entered the game tops in the nation, gave up only 60 yards.

at No. 19 Iowa 47, Purdue 17: Drew Tate threw two touchdown passes and Damian Sims ran for two more scores as the Hawkeyes (5-1, 2-1) rolled up 539 total yards in defeating the Boilermakers (4-2, 1-1) at Iowa City.

Penn State 28, at Minnesota 27: Tony Hunt rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns, the last in overtime, and Kevin Kelly made the extra point to lift the Nittany Lions (4-2, 2-1) over the Gophers (2-4, 0-3) at Minneapolis.

at Wisconsin 41, Northwestern 9: P.J. Hill rushed for 249 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown run on the second play of the game, as the Badgers (5-1, 2-1) beat the Wildcats (2-4, 0-2) at Madison.

Indiana 34, at Illinois 32: Austin Starr kicked a 33-yard field goal as time expired and the Hoosiers (3-3, 1-1) defeated the Illini (2-4, 1-2) at Champaign. Starr had missed a 43-yard attempt in the fourth quarter.

ATLANTIC COAST

No. 15 Clemson 27, at Wake Forest 17: C.J. Spiller ran 72 yards for the go-ahead touchdown and defensive lineman Gaines Adams returned a fumble for a score to spark the Tigers (5-1, 3-1) at Winston-Salem, N.C., and deny the Demon Deacons (5-1, 1-1) their first 6-0 start since 1944. Wake Forest led, 17-3, early in the fourth quarter, but a fumbled snap on a 42-yard field-goal attempt led to Adams’ 66-yard return to start the comeback for Clemson, which had lost its last two on the road against Wake Forest.

at No. 18 Georgia Tech 27, Maryland 23: Tashard Choice rushed for a career-high 138 yards and two touchdowns and the Yellow Jackets (5-1, 3-0) rallied from a nine-point deficit and survived a last-minute scare to defeat the Terrapins (3-2, 0-1) at Atlanta. Michael Johnson got to Maryland quarterback Sam Hollenbach on third and fourth down in the final minute after the Terrapins had a first and goal at the seven-yard line. Calvin Johnson had 10 catches for 133 yards and a touchdown for Georgia Tech.

at Miami 27, North Carolina 7: Javarris James had a 62-yard touchdown run for his team’s longest play of the season, finishing with 111 yards to help the Hurricanes (3-2, 1-1) defeat the Tar Heels (1-4, 0-3). Miami safety Lovon Ponder threw a touchdown pass to Sam Shields on a trick play in the first quarter. Miami outscored North Carolina, 17-0, over the last 31 minutes.

at East Carolina 31, Virginia 21: Brandon Fractious rushed for 102 yards and had one of four rushing touchdowns for the Pirates (2-3) in a victory over the Cavaliers (2-4) at Greenville, N.C.

BIG EAST

Pittsburgh 21, at Syracuse 11: LaRod Stephens-Howling rushed for a career-high 221 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown run, and the Panthers (5-1, 2-0) defeated the Orange (3-3, 0-1) at Syracuse, N.Y., handing the team its eighth straight conference loss.

at South Florida 38, Connecticut 16: Matt Grothe ran for three touchdowns and threw for another, to lead the Bulls (4-2, 1-1) over the Huskies (2-3, 0-1) at Tampa. Grothe completed 12 of 15 passes for 146 yards. He ran for 82 yards in 15 carries and scored on runs of 16, eight and six yards.

at Cincinnati 20, Akron 14: Dustin Grutza passed for a season-high 230 yards and led all rushers with 72 yards to lead the Bearcats (3-3) over the visiting Zips (2-4).
