Pittsburgh 4, at Minnesota 2: Evgeni Malkin scored twice and had an assist, and Sidney Crosby had a goal and three assists to power the Penguins. The Wild lost at home for the first time and fell to 0-3-1 in its last four games.
Atlanta 3, at Montreal 2: Ilya Kovalchuk scored the decisive goal in the shootout, putting a shot past rookie Carey Price.
Phoenix 2, at St. Louis 1: Fredrik Sjostrom scored on a wraparound with 2:58 to go for the Coyotes, who outshot the Blues, 15-4, in the third period.
Detroit 2, at Edmonton 1: Valtteri Filppula scored with 24.4 seconds to play, and the Red Wings won their sixth in a row. Detroit got a rare win in Edmonton to improve to 10-2-1, best in the NHL by three points over Ottawa. Henrik Zetterberg’s second-period goal gave him at least one point in each of the Red Wings’ 13 games.
at Calgary 5, Nashville 1: Jarome Iginla scored twice and Miikka Kiprusoff made 39 saves. Kiprusoff, the Vezina Trophy winner in 2006, was sharp from the opening faceoff. Iginla scored his seventh goal at 3:59 of the first, only seven seconds into Calgary’s first power play.
