Moss, Brady lead Patriots

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Despite all the missed time in training camp, Randy Moss looked fresh and very much like a dominant playmaking receiver.

Moss, who sat out most of camp because of a hamstring injury, caught nine passes from Tom Brady for 183 yards and a touchdown in his New England debut.

Ellis Hobbs set an NFL record by taking the second-half kickoff 108 yards for a score in a 38-14 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday.

Moss, obtained for a fourth-round choice in a draft-day trade with Oakland, had two miserable years with the Raiders after being a perennial Pro Bowl receiver with Minnesota.

His trade to New England was expected to rejuvenate him and add to Brady’s new set of targets.

So far, so good for Moss.

Brady, who faced little pressure from the Jets, was 22 for 28 for 297 yards and three touchdowns, including a five-yarder to Benjamin Watson. He continued his mastery of the Jets; he’s 7-0 against them at Giants Stadium, and 11-2 overall in starts.
