Woman killed in car explosion
A woman died Monday when a gasoline container in her car exploded in the parking lot of an Anaheim apartment complex, police said.
The woman, whose body was burned beyond recognition, was found in the car outside the complex. Anaheim police said the gasoline container caused the car to explode, but they were unsure what ignited the container.
Sgt. Tim Schmidt said the explosion blew out the car’s windows and charred the vehicle. He said the car belongs to a tenant of the apartment complex, but it was not immediately known if the victim was the tenant.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad was called to investigate.
