The Denver Nuggets waived Antonio McDyess on Monday one week after obtaining him from Detroit along with Chauncey Billups and Cheikh Samb for Allen Iverson.

The move was expected as Denver tries to cut costs. McDyess’ agent, Andy Miller, had said the chances of him playing for the Nuggets were “very low to zero.”

McDyess, who had two previous stints with Denver, had not appeared in any games for the Nuggets since the trade.

The Pistons would welcome McDyess back, but they cannot sign him for 30 days.

The 34-year-old forward has averaged 13.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in 12 seasons.

Sacramento’s Martin injured

The Sacramento Kings said guard Kevin Martin will sit out seven to 10 days after spraining his left ankle in a victory over Golden State on Sunday night.

Martin is the NBA’s 11th-leading scorer at 22.4 points per game. He had 27 points against the Warriors before he injured his ankle when he was fouled on a drive.

Etc.

Utah center Mehmet Okur, Utah’s second-leading scorer at 15.5 points a game, is returning to his home country of Turkey to deal with an illness in his family. The Jazz said it has excused Okur so he can be with his family. No other details were released. . . . The Pistons said guard Rodney Stuckey remained in Detroit for testing and is listed as day to day after he experienced symptoms of lightheadedness and dizziness in Sunday’s loss to Boston.
