2 men whose boat flipped drowned
Authorities say two men whose boat capsized in the ocean off Oxnard have died.
The Ventura County coroner’s office said Wen Xiang Lu, 59, of El Monte and Shao Shun Peng, 46, of Arcadia were pronounced dead Tuesday at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard after they were pulled from the water by rescue crews.
An autopsy Wednesday determined that the men drowned.
Oxnard Fire Department spokeswoman Deborah Shane said lifeguards, sheriff’s deputies and the Coast Guard responded after the 20-foot boat flipped over, and found Lu and Peng floating nearby.
Shane said a third man, whose name has not been released, made it safely to shore.
