* at Chicago 108, Milwaukee 95: Luol Deng scored 21 points, Ben Gordon had 18 and the Bulls beat former coach Scott Skiles, now coach of the Bucks. Milwaukee’s Michael Redd scored 30. Bulls rookie Derrick Rose, the No. 1 draft pick, showed quickness and strength but mixed in enough mistakes to remind fans he is a work in progress. He had 11 points, nine assists and four turnovers.
* at Boston 90, Cleveland 85: Paul Pierce outscored LeBron James, 27-22, in the defending champions’ opening win.
* at Lakers 96, Portland 76: Kobe Bryant had 23 points and 11 rebounds, and the Lakers held the Trail Blazers to 34.5% shooting.
