* at Cleveland 6, Minnesota 4: The Indians completed a three-game sweep, preventing the Twins from gaining ground on Chicago.
* at New York 5, Chicago 1: Johnny Damon hit a two-run homer, Robinson Cano had three hits and Xavier Nady had a tying RBI single in the seventh inning to lead the Yankees over the Central-leading White Sox.
* at Toronto 8, Baltimore 7: Travis Snider drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. The Blue Jays’ Scott Rolen went three for four with two doubles and a triple, scored twice and drove in a run.
* Detroit 17, at Texas 4: Freddy Garcia pitched five innings to win in his first game since June 2007. Eleven straight Tigers batters reached base in the fifth inning off three Rangers pitchers.
* at Kansas City 5, Seattle 2: Jose Guillen hit a key two-run single after being sick the night before, as the Royals won their sixth straight game.
* at Tampa Bay 10, Boston 3: Willy Aybar, Gabe Gross and Fernando Perez homered for the Rays off the Red Sox’s Tim Wakefield.
* at Oakland 3, Angels 2: The Angels made two throwing errors in the ninth inning that allowed the Athletics’ Daric Barton and Jack Hannahan to score.
