L.A. Dorsey (9-3) at No. 1 L.A. Crenshaw (12-0), tonight, 7

* Top-seeded Crenshaw is trying to repeat the path it took to a City Section title in 2005, when the Cougars defeated Dorsey in a semifinal. When these Coliseum League rivals played last month, Crenshaw had twice as many touchdowns (six) as Dorsey had first downs (three) during a 44-7 victory. “They played a great game, but there were things we didn’t do correctly and we want to see if we can fix those things,” Dorsey Coach Paul Knox said. “We have to protect the quarterback and we have to be able to block people.” The pick: Crenshaw.

Harbor City Narbonne (7-5) at No. 17 Carson (10-2), tonight, 7

* This City Section semifinal is a rematch of a Marine League game that Carson won, 41-28, last month after rallying from an early 20-7 deficit. The Colts prevailed despite committing four turnovers and forcing none. “That’s the first time I’ve ever been minus-four in the takeaway department and won,” said Carson Coach Michael Christensen, whose team has the No. 2 seeding. Christensen said 11th-seeded Narbonne has won two playoff games in part because of effective screen passes from quarterback Chad Dashnaw. The pick: Carson.

No. 6 Mission Viejo (12-0) vs. No. 4 Anaheim Servite (11-1)

at Cerritos College, tonight, 7:30

* Second-seeded Mission Viejo is trying to return to a section title game for the first time since 2005, when the Diablos were Division II champions. Tailback Exavier Edwards, who had 155 yards rushing and two touchdowns last week in a 40-14 victory over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, will likely need another big game for Mission Viejo to win this Pac-5 Division semifinal. Third-seeded Servite relies on the savvy of quarterback Cody Fajardo, who seemingly willed the Friars to a 21-18 quarterfinal victory over Long Beach Poly and has had only two passes intercepted this season. The pick: Servite.

No. 10 Ventura St. Bonaventure (11-1) at

No. 13 Westlake Village Westlake (12-0), tonight, 7

* Third-seeded Westlake could give future Marmonte League rival St. Bonaventure an early welcome of sorts in this Northern Division semifinal. The Musketeers have been one of the season’s most pleasant surprises behind quarterback Nick Isham (1,881 yards passing) and tailback Tavior Mowry (1,291 yards rushing). St. Bonaventure has won with a smothering defense that has recorded three shutouts and allowed a total of 14 points in its last five games. The pick: St. Bonaventure.

No. 12 Norco (11-1) at No. 14 Vista Murrieta (12-0), tonight, 7:30

* Third-seeded Norco has perhaps the top trio of running backs in Southern California, with Deantre Lewis, Kelsey Young and Carl Bradford combining for more than 4,000 yards and 47 touchdowns. “You know they’re going to make plays,” Vista Murrieta Coach Coley Candaele said. “You just hope to limit those.” The second-seeded Broncos, who are making their first appearance in an Inland Division semifinal in their sixth varsity season, are led by versatile quarterback Derrick Brown, who has passed for 1,554 yards and rushed for 850. Norco defeated Vista Murrieta in a 2006 quarterfinal on the way to a section title. The pick: Norco.

No. 5 Lakewood (11-1) vs. No. 2 Huntington Beach Edison (12-0) at Orange Coast College, Saturday, 7

* Lakewood Coach Thadd MacNeal said the key to stopping top-seeded Edison in this Pac-5 Division semifinal will be putting pressure on quarterback Matt Viles. “Teams that don’t ever get to him, he picks them apart,” MacNeal said. Chargers linebacker Jordan Zumwalt & Co. will also have their hands full with Lakewood quarterback Jesse Scroggins, who passed for four touchdown passes during the Lancers’ 34-17 victory over La Puente Bishop Amat. The pick: Edison.
