Dan LeFevour threw four touchdown passes, ran for a fifth score and became the all-time leading passer in Mid-American Conference history as he led Central Michigan to a 35-3 victory over Ball State on Wednesday night in Muncie, Ind.

The senior quarterback completed 25 of 28 passes for 344 yards and no interceptions before taking a seat midway through the fourth quarter.

LeFevour now has 12,000 yards passing, breaking the record of 11,903 established by Byron Leftwich of Marshall from 1999 to 2002.

Buffalo wins in rout

Brandon Thermilus rushed for two touchdowns and caught another for Buffalo to beat Miami of Ohio, 42-17, in Oxford, Ohio. Thermilus ran for 126 yards and caught a 29-yard touchdown on his only reception for the Bulls (4-7, 2-5 MAC). Miami (1-11, 1-7) took a 3-0 advantage on Trevor Cook’s 37-yard field goal less than five minutes into the second quarter.

Best is still sore

Star tailback Jahvid Best is eager to return to the football field after being sidelined by a frightening fall and concussion and has targeted California’s season finale as a possible return date. Best said that the symptoms from the concussion have cleared but he still has a sore back.

“I’m just trying to take it day by day and hoping for the best,” he said. “Every day I’m feeling a little better. I’m hoping it keeps progressing that way and hopefully I’ll be out here pretty soon.”
