Sam Farmer’s Monday film review

Share

A common response to questions after NFL games is, “I have to wait to see the film.” Times NFL writer Sam Farmer sorts through the best of Monday’s film review:

Raheem Morris, coach

of the 0-5 Tampa Bay

Buccaneers:

“We had our coaches meeting this morning. We got our faces ripped off as a

coaching staff,

me included.”

::

Randy Hanson, Raiders assistant coach, in an

interview with Yahoo Sports about an alleged sucker punch from

Coach Tom Cable:

“From my blind side, Tom Cable threw me from my chair and into a piece of furniture that a lamp sat upon. He was screaming, ‘I’ll [expletive] kill you! I’ll [expletive] kill you!’ And I have no reason to believe he wouldn’t have killed me if they hadn’t pulled him away. If my head would’ve hit a different way, I might be dead right now.”

::

Dre Bly, San Francisco cornerback, on showboating on an interception against Atlanta that led to him fumbling the ball back to the Falcons:

“It was totally

inappropriate . . . I went to coach [Mike Singletary] and apologized. After looking at things last night, it was wrong.”

::

Jim Mora, Seattle coach, on fullback Owen Schmitt, who opened a gash on his forehead by excitedly

slamming his own helmet into his noggin before

Sunday’s game:

“I said, ‘Hey pal, if you get hurt, we don’t have anybody else.’ That’s just his enthusiasm. He came over and apologized. I told him, ‘Use your head.’ ”

::

Ralph Wilson, Buffalo Bills owner, on the future of Coach Dick Jauron in the aftermath of a 6-3 loss to Cleveland:

“[Sunday] was so bad that it’s hard to make a decision right now. I’m not going to make any decisions during the middle of the season right now. At least right now.”

::

Kerry Rhodes, New York Jets safety, before Monday night’s game against the Miami Dolphins:

“This is like a showcase for us. People have been seeing us a lot on TV, doing a lot of talking, how we’re more swagger-licious. Now it’s a chance to show the world we’re not just talk and we definitely deserve to be one of the teams to beat this year.”
