Titans replace Collins with Young

Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams wants to see more of Vince Young. He’s getting just that, with his winless team switching from veteran Kerry Collins back to the 2006 offensive rookie of the year.

Coach Jeff Fisher announced the expected move Thursday following practice for the 0-6 Titans, and Young got the news from his coach in the morning. Fisher said it was an organizational decision resulting from the team’s winless start and that he won’t play musical chairs with the position.

“We’re in a unique situation right now. We haven’t won a game. We wouldn’t be having this conversation if we were 3-3,” Fisher said.

That means Young will start Sunday against Jacksonville (3-3), the team that helped send him to the bench in the 2008 opener by picking him off twice and spraining his knee. Collins has started 20 of the last 21 games.

“For him to give me a shot again to go out and give it a chance again is big for me because I’ve been waiting,” Young said of Fisher.

Big Browns backer organizes protest

One of the most loyal Dawg Pounders is done barking about the sad state of his beloved Cleveland Browns. It’s time to bite.

Lifelong Browns fan and season-ticket holder Mike Randall, aka “Dawg Pound Mike,” is encouraging other Cleveland fans to stay away from their seats for the opening kickoff of the Browns’ Nov. 16 home game against Baltimore.

Sickened by the nearly constant losing since the NFL team’s return in 1999, Randall hopes the sight of empty seats for the start of the nationally televised Monday night game will send a loud message to owner Randy Lerner and club officials that fans have had enough.

“We’re tired of losing,” the 39-year-old Randall said. “We’re tired of the booing, of seeing fans leave in the fourth quarter. There are fans who have had tickets for 30 years who are turning their seats in because they can’t take it anymore. So many fans are fed up.”

Seahawks’ Tatupu out for the season

A spokesman for the Seattle Seahawks said three-time Pro Bowl middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu went on the injured reserve list because of a torn chest muscle.

Tatupu traveled to Birmingham, Ala., to consult with noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews, and then had surgery there.

The defensive captain was injured in the first half of Seattle’s loss to Arizona on Oct. 18.

New York Giants backup running back Ahmad Bradshaw will continue to play this season despite having a cracked bone in his right foot. Bradshaw said doctors told him the bone could break if he continues playing. . . . The New Orleans Saints put fullback Heath Evans on injured reserve because he tore a knee ligament in last Sunday’s comeback victory in Miami.
