Update: Goaltender Jonathan Quick, who earned his fourth shutout of the season Monday with a 24-save performance in San Jose, is scheduled to start against the Coyotes as the Kings begin another back-to-back sequence. Coach Terry Murray said he’s leaning toward starting Jonathan Bernier on Thursday at home against Philadelphia. Left wing Alexei Ponikarovsky, who missed Monday’s 4-0 victory because of an unspecified lower-body injury, received treatment Tuesday while his teammates had the day off. Murray said he will wait until Wednesday’s morning skate to determine whether Ponikarovsky can play. The Kings have won three of their last four road games but are still below .500 (9-10-0) on the road. The Coyotes widll be playing the second of back-to-back games after losing to the Ducks on Tuesday.
