Obama nominates Tristar’s Tom Rothman to National Council on the Arts

President Obama has nominated Tristar Productions Chairman Tom Rothman to serve as a member of the National Council on the Arts.
The group advises the chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts and recommends nominees to the president for the annual National Medal of Arts awards.
Members of the council serve six-year terms; their appointments are confirmed by the Senate.

Rothman, who from 2000 to 2012 served as co-chairman of Fox Filmed Entertainment, joined Tristar, a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment, in August.
Rothman wouldn’t be the first Hollywood player to serve on the council: Frank Price, an independent film and television producer who once served as chairman of Columbia Pictures, currently is a member of the advisory group.
