Melvins, Redd Kross to play New Year’s Eve show in downtown L.A.

There’s no shortage of nostalgia for ‘80s-era punk right now, and two of the genre’s titans have finally joined up for a show.
Redd Kross, the pioneering L.A. punk band whose recent reunion and new album “Researching the Blues” earned wide accolades, will co-headline a New Year’s Eve date with beloved sludge-merchants the Melvins.
The two acts shockingly have never shared a bill despite their overlapping scene-orbits. They’ll commandeer the ballroom at downtown’s Alexandria Hotel for the occasion, and we can vouch for the fact that there’s no better room in L.A. for a night devoted to scuzzy holiday anti-cheer.
Tickets are on sale Sept. 22 at 10 a.m., and for an added blast of Reagan-era punk nostalgia, Rodney Bingenheimer is presenting the show. All-black attire is reportedly and appropriately preferred.
