Resistance, as they say, is futile. But what else are you gonna do? The alien-invasion drama "Falling Skies" returns with back-to-back episodes. Noah Wyle and Moon Bloodgood star. 9 and 10 p.m. TNT


"Pussy Riot — A Punk Prayer" revisits the tale of three artist-activists arrested after a 2011 protest against Russian leader Vladimir Putin in a Moscow cathedral. 9 p.m. HBO

Norm! And Cliff! And Sam and Diane! "The Cast of Cheers: Where Are They Now?" gets you caught up with the stars of the Emmy-winning 1980s-era sitcom. 9 p.m. TVGN

The Kyra Sedgwick cop drama "The Closer" closed shop last summer. But its spin-off, "Major Crimes," is back for a second season. Mary McDonnell stars. 9 p.m. TNT

There's always room for another singing competition… isn't there? No, not really, but here's a sneak peek at "The Winner Is...." 10 p.m. NBC

A writer for late-night TV's "Conan" riffs on the latest political and pop-cultural nonsensicalness in the new series "Deon Cole's Black Box." 10 p.m. TBS

"Pretty Little Liars" is back with new episodes. And a troubled teen finds himself the prime suspect in the murder of a classmate in the new mystery-drama "Twisted." 8 and 9 p.m. ABC Family


The Hamptons-set "Royal Pains" and the football-themed drama "Necessary Roughness" are back for the summer. 9 and 10 p.m. USA

Gentlemen, start your trowels! It's all about who can unearth more artifacts at historic sites in the new series "Dig Wars." 10 and 10:30 p.m. Travel

All hail Bane! Tom Hardy, pictured, steals the show as Batman's (Christian Bale) brainy, brawny nemesis in "The Dark Knight Rises," the 2012 conclusion of Christopher Nolan's Caped Crusader trilogy. Anne Hathaway also stars. 8 p.m. HBO

Do you know where your children are? A mother's (Daphne Zuniga) teen daughter has "Gone Missing" at spring break in this new made-for-cable thriller. 8 p.m. Lifetime

A jazz musician ("CSI: Miami's" Eddie Cibrian) gets his groove back in the inspirational TV movie "Notes From Dad." Alan Thicke also stars. 9 and 11 p.m. Hallmark

The funny fellow responsible for "Blazing Saddles" and "Young Frankenstein" is feted in the special "AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to Mel Brooks." 9 p.m. TNT
