$10,000 Sriracha packet for sale on EBay

What would you do to get your hands on a bottle of Sriracha? That’s a question many Sriracha fans asked after a judge ordered the recent partial shutdown of the Huy Fong Foods Sriracha chile plant in Irwindale last week.

A seller on EBay is hoping you’ll miss the hot sauce so much, you’ll pay $10,000 for it. EBay seller larryhagman has listed a small packet of Sriracha, the Vietnamese chile sauce, on EBay for $10,000. Yes, that’s right, it’s a small packet, not a full bottle, and it’s being sold for $10,000.

The seller is not accepting any bids and will only take a full offer of $10,000 to purchase the sauce packet.

“I know you’re saying, “$10,000 for a pack of Sriracha? That’s crazy,” writes larryhagman in the product description. “Well guess what, when the zombie apocalypse arrives and you’re out of Sriracha, which are you gonna miss more -- Sriracha for that rodent you just cooked, or the $10,000?”

The sauce packet is described as new, unused, unopened and undamaged. But if you’re a Huy Fong Foods fan you may want to take a closer look at the package. The sauce was made by a company called Spice World International Group, not the makers of the recognizable Huy Fong Foods bottles with the rooster and the bright green cap. And you can also still buy full-size bottles of the stuff on supermarket shelves everywhere.

If you’re looking to browse more of larryhagman’s EBay offerings after purchasing your new $10,000 packet of Sriracha, you may want to look into something called “Shrek & Friends Littlest Pet Shop Original Sculpture, which is described as “OMG WTF MUST SEE MUST BUY.” It’s selling for $50.
