Food Network’s Gina and Pat Neely file for divorce
The Food Network’s golden couple, “Down Home With the Neelys” stars Pat and Gina Neely, are getting a divorce. Gina Neely filed the papers after almost 20 years of marriage, reported the WMC news channel in Memphis, Tenn.
The couple, who practically beamed at each other while they diced onions and complimented the other’s every move the show’s 11 seasons, cited “irreconcilable differences” for the divorce.
“This was a tough decision, but we believe it is the best decision for us,” the Neelys said in a statement to WMC. “As parents of two beautiful adult daughters that we love dearly, we will continue to be involved in each other’s lives as parents and friends.”
Pat and Gina, both from Memphis, dated in high school. They gained popularity on their Food Network show and for their cookbooks “Back Home With the Neelys: Comfort Food from our Southern Kitchen to Yours,” “Down Home With the Neelys,” and “The Neelys’ Celebration Cookbook.”
The Neelys have a Memphis barbecue restaurant in New York City, and closed the Memphis location of the restaurant last year. They own a total of four properties together.
“Together we have built a strong brand as the Neelys,” reads the statement. “Moving forward our focus will be on our individual brands and we are optimistic about our respective futures.”
Gina is currently working on a new line of Green Giant products and Pat has a partnership with Family Dollar, which helps people shop for food on a budget.
