Oktoberfest at Santa Anita Park, Evan Kleiman pie demo, Pasadena Greek Fest

The 2nd annual Oktoberfest at Santa Anita Park will take place opening day at the races Sept. 27. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the racetrack will have an infield beer garden and Dog Haus sausages in the VIP area. There will also be traditional German music from Bavarian Wunderband, competitive alphorn blowing, stein-holding contests, Dachshund racing, a costume contest and live horse racing all day. If you come in your best lederhosen, you’ll receive free admission to the beer garden. General admission is $10. A general package is $25 and includes admission to the beer garden and concert admission, two drink vouchers for beer, water or soda, one authentic German pretzel, souvenir Oktoberest stein, a daily racing program and a wagering tip sheet. There’s also a VIP package for $60 that comes with the general package goodies (with a T-shirt instead of a stein), access to a VIP backstage lounge, happy hour premium bar all day and access to VIP wagering areas. 285 W. KCRW radio’s Evan Kleiman is hosting a fundraiser pie demo with David LeFevre (Fishing with Dynamite, MB Post) Sept. 25 at the New School of Cooking. LeFevre will demonstrate a savory New England clam chowder dumpling pie and Kleiman will demonstrate her savory pie filled with jam and cheese. From 7 to 10 p.m., guests will be able to enjoy pie, wine pairings, dessert by Coolhaus and Stumptown coffee. There will also be recipes available to take home. The 56th annual Pasadena Greek Fest, hosted by Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church in Pasadena, will take place at Santa Anita Park Sept. 19, 20 and 21. There will be live music, Greek food, dance performances, carnival games, rides and prizes. Admission is $5 for adults and children younger than 12 are free. Parking is $4.
