Angel Rodriguez is the general manager for Latino initiatives at the Los Angeles Times, overseeing a new product that will specifically explore Latino culture and identity. He moved to the position in 2022 after two years as a special projects editor.

Rodriguez manages a team looking to build on the success of the Latinx Files newsletter and bring to life the vibrancy of the U.S. Latino experience — the internal conversations, larger debates, creative joys and many nuances. This product will be multi-platformed in its approach to reaching Latino audiences, with rich visual and audio storytelling, provocative commentary, short docs and live events. He also manages Los Angeles Times en Español as part of a continuing effort to better serve Southern California’s Spanish-speaking market.

An assistant managing editor, he previously oversaw the News Desk’s multiplatform editors, who program the home page and mobile app, and the audience engagement editors. Rodriguez joined The Times as Sports editor in 2015 after spending a year as a deputy editor for mobile innovation at the Washington Post. Prior to joining the Post, he spent two years as sports editor of the Cincinnati Enquirer. He has also worked at the Arizona Republic, ESPN.com and MLB.com.
