New legislation:

In the Oct. 3 LATExtra section, an article about bills signed by Gov. Jerry Brown, in referring to penalties established for the sale of synthetic cannabis products, said that sales of less than 28 ounces of marijuana are subject to a maximum $100 fine. The penalty applies to possession rather than sale. Also, the penalty applies to grams rather than ounces.

Angel City Jazz Festival:

An Oct. 3 Calendar review of the Angel City Jazz Festival identified a singer who performed with the Pan Afrikan People’s Arkestra as Maria. Her performing name is Maia.

Esperanza Spalding:

An Oct. 3 Calendar review of a concert by Esperanza Spalding at the Orpheum Theatre referred to the Sept. 30 show as Spalding’s first L.A. appearance since her win at this year’s Grammys. She performed at USC’s Bovard Auditorium on Feb. 26.

Betty Skelton:

In the Sept. 11 California section, the obituary of aerobatics pioneer Betty Skelton, who later achieved firsts in the auto industry and in auto racing, said she was an inductee of the NASCAR International Motorsports Hall of Fame. The correct name of the organization is the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America.
