Waxman seat: In the Feb. 15 LATExtra section, an article about the race to the race to succeed Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Beverly Hills) said that state Sen. Ted Lieu of Torrance was the first Democrat to enter the race. In fact, former Los Angeles Controller Wendy Greuel announced her candidacy Jan. 30, and Lieu announced for the seat the following day.

Shirley Temple: In the Feb. 12 Calendar section, an article about Shirley Temple and child stars said that Temple was a bigger box office draw than any adult stars of the 1930s, including Ava Gardner. Gardner’s Hollywood career didn’t start until the 1940s.

Mary Grace Canfield obituary: In the Feb. 18 LATExtra section, the obituary of actress Mary Grace Canfield gave the first name of her acting teacher Jasper Deeter as Jason.

Rap quotes: In the Feb. 18 LATExtra section, an article about signs posted by an artist that linked rap lyrics to the Los Angeles locations that inspired them said that a sign was placed in front of Diamond Supply Co. because the artist had mistakenly written “Diamond” instead of “coppin.” The sign did misstate the lyric, but it was meant to be placed in front of Hall of Fame, a store next door to Diamond that also is referenced in the rap lyric.

Downey Space Museum: In the Feb. 14 Business section, an article about the Columbia Memorial Space Center in Downey identified the nearby Shuttle Inn as a hotel. It is a bar.

Figure skating: In the Feb. 16 Sochi Olympics section, an article about Russian figure skater Yulia Lipnitskaya said that if she wins the gold medal, she would become the second-youngest women’s singles Olympic champion, six days older than 1998 champion Tara Lipinski. The age difference would be five days.
