Seven people injured in two-car collision in Jefferson Park

Seven people were injured when two cars smashed into each other Wednesday evening in South Los Angeles.

Five patients were taken by ambulances to hospitals, and two others declined to be transported, the Los Angeles Fire Department said. The condition of the victims was not known.

The accident was reported around 6:15 p.m. in the 2600 block of West Jefferson Boulevard in the Jefferson Park neighborhood.

Television news footage showed one of the smashed vehicles on a sidewalk and the second car on the street as firefighters treated the victims.

It was not immediately clear what caused the accident. Los Angeles Police Department traffic investigators were at the scene gathering evidence.
