Man gunned down outside of home in Artesia is identified
The victim of a deadly shooting in Artesia early Thursday has been identified as 29-year-old Sergio Lopez.
Neighbors said Lopez was gunned down while standing in front of his home in the 12100 block of 180th Street about 1:10 a.m.
“According to several witnesses, they were in their homes when they heard four or five gunshots. They came outside, discovered the victim and called police,” according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “No suspects or vehicles were seen leaving the area.”
Authorities continue to investigate the shooting.
This is the second homicide in Artesia this year, and fifth since 2007, according to the L.A. Times Homicide Report.
